Started reading a book series by Christopher Paolini, who graduated at 16 and originally printed his fantasy series under his families independent publishing house. When the first book got a lot of hype it was bought out and is not being published by Alfred A. Knopf, an imprint of Random House. The first book, Eragon, is named after the title char. A teenage scout, he finds a strange blue rock, which, hatches into a dragon and begins communicating telepathically with him. Dragons in this world (Alagaesia) were once the most powerful beings before elves made a pact with them for mutual survival. The pact was that some elves and humans would become more Draconic and some Dragons would become more civilized, the pair (one Dragon and one Rider) being bonded together. Eragon, named after the first rider (an elf), is the first of the second generation of Riders. Second book is already out with the last part of the trilogy still being written. The rights to the make the trilogy into a movie series have also been sold, with the movie based on the first book already in post-production. Official site for trilogy: www.alagaesia.com
